Public service reporting focuses on informing the public about issues that significantly impact communities, such as government accountability, health, and safety. It emphasizes investigative work to expose problems and injustices that affect citizens, often holding powerful institutions to account. This type of journalism serves the public interest by aiming to create informed citizens. The goal is to foster transparency and promote change for the common good.
Solutions-Based Journalism
Solutions-based journalism highlights responses to social challenges, showcasing successful initiatives and strategies that address widespread problems. Rather than focusing only on the issues, it provides a balanced view by exploring viable solutions, often including analysis of what works and why. This approach empowers readers by demonstrating potential paths forward and encouraging informed action. It also adds depth to coverage, moving beyond problems to explore real-world impacts and effectiveness of solutions.
